RACHEL K COLLIER

Following up on previous single “Paper Tiger”, supported by BBC R1, BBC Introducing and more, Welsh artist and one-woman production machine Collier delivered ultramodern metallic electro-pop with latest release “Rust” in July and is now in full flow with her energetic live set. Collier will be playing live at The RUM 100 Festival Saturday 9th September. Across Europe the UK throughout the latter half of 2017.
King Kartel are a five piece rock’n’roll outfit who create an alternative rock sound that shakes an audience to their knees, bringing a sing a long yet tactful gutsy factor back to the genre which is in need of desperate TLC.
Rum Thief is solo artist Jot Green with support from his band (Kieran Whitehouse , Lead guitar; Gary Long , Bass – and Chris Hobs, Drums), based in Chorlton, Manchester. The project began when Green, after playing as a drummer in bands for over ten years, decided to record some songs of his own. Booking into Airtight studio in Chorlton, Manchester he performed the drums, guitars, vocals and backing vocals to produce his first EP ‘Clouded Mind’. The titular lead track generated interest from media outlets across the north west and with the help of ex band mates and a new live drummer, Rum Thief secured some local gigs, festivals, support slots and airplay on local and national radio. After successfully headlining the Manchester Ritz and recording 3rd Ep ‘Time To Make A Move ‘ at legendary Hackney Rd Studio 2017 is set to be a big year for Rum Thief!

Born spring 2015, Last Race Home have rough and ready acoustic stomping songs of a refined style and a mighty calibre. Featuring harmonica, trumpet, keys and lots of vocals. Singing songs of hard drinking, love, gritty Northern realism, romanticism and heartbreak. A band to be believed.
OK Broken are a 3 piece indie rock band formed in Oldham in 2010. Band members Gaz Wright, Phil McArdle and Alex Whitehead draw their influences from British indie rock all the way to American pop punk and are currently making a statement on the Manchester music scene with recent performances such as the O2 Ritz Manchester and Leeds O2 Academy. Their latest live album ‘Beginnings and Endings’ is released on Spotify, Itunes plus many other platforms and they are currently working on new material to be released at the fall of 2017.

Since bursting onto Manchester’s live music scene back in November 2015, those boys from THE BRIGHT BLACK have gone from strength to strength, earning themselves an underground reputation for flamboyantly raucous performances with a dress code to match. Their unique sound, often described as “Glam-Soul, Post-Funk”, is a melting pot of Funk driven grooves, Soulful lyricism and an energy rarely found outside of Rock and Roll. It is this eclectic approach to their artistry that is challenging the cliches often associated with Mancunian music, proving they are one of the city’s most promising new bands.

Lynch are a 3 piece electronic pop band, playing atmospheric music that borrows from Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, LCD & Bowie. Expect electronic beats, throbbing bass, vocal harmonies, delicate electronics, & catchy hooks – all coming together to produce a unique soundscape which is proud to be a little left of centre. Front man and name-sake Dieter Lynch (lead vocals, guitar), Stephen Graham (backing vocals, electronics) & Tom Lonsborough (beats, bass, keys, synths) have enjoyed a hectic gigging schedule around the country since their formation 18 months ago: during this time they released the “I’ll Be There” EP on The Anti Gravity Revolution imprint, with an album also in the pipeline for 2018.

CARL AND THE LONELYS
Since forming in early 2016, Carl North & The Lonely Hearts have been busy generating their own kind of buzz within Manchester’s live circuit. In their first year alone, multi-instrumentalist North has fronted the The Lonely Hearts alongside a number of Traditional giants, including Andrew Combs, Gill Landry & C.W. Stoneking. Following a string of festival appearances including Glastonbury, Ynot and 2000 Trees, Carl & the Lonely Hearts will be releasing their debut single towards the end of the year. If you’re looking for the raw soul of Americana or you fancy yourself a foot-stompin’ night of Rhythm & Blues, Carl North & The Lonely Hearts are the band you need to catch.
The Transmitters are a brilliant four-piece from Lancashire. With years of experience under their belts on the live circuit, this band plays original music combining energetic beats and thunderous bass lines with colliding guitar riffs and superb vocals. Their forthcoming album – Britopia, due for an autumn release is already causing a stir among the followers after the success of their previous EPs – Catch The Sun & Out On The Street. With touches of The Kinks, The Who, The Jam, Small Faces, Dr. Feelgood and Wilko Johnson, their sound & performances are not just spot on but really kick out British mod-rock.
At 22 years old with 6 years on the Manchester circuit, Jess Kemp released her debut single ‘Stars’ in March 2015 and has seen her featured by BBC Introducing & BBC Radio 2. Following the release of the EP, Jess went on to headline Manchester Academy 3, Factory Manchester and The Live Room.The success of the above release led to the demand of a 4 date European tour in 2016. Since then, Jess placed 3rd for Best Unsigned Female in the Best Of British Unsigned Music Awards. In the same week, Jess and her band reached the final of Indie Week Europe and again placed 3rd from a selection of 70+ bands. Her new single “VondelPark” was released March 2017 as she is too is released on the Festival scene.
RUTH E. COCKBURN
Comedian, writer, singer song writer and theatre maker, Ruth E. Cockburn tells stories, sings songs and generally entertains. From Blackpool, over the years she has performed all over the country and written scripts for all sorts of folk. Her most recent show, ‘Love Letters From Blackpool’, was performed in at The Royal Exchange Manchester and will be going on tour in 2018.
Her previous solo show won ‘Best Show’ at Buxton Fringe, and Ruth was named as ‘One To Watch’ in The Sunday Times. So Head down to our Comedy show stage!

Drawing comparisons to Radiohead, Bombay Bicycle Club and Lift To Experience, the four-piece have appeared at multiple UK festivals and featured on a DIY Magazine live showcase and BBC Introducing In Manchester. Following the release of a debut EP in December, 2017 has seen New Luna tour the UK, perform at The Great Escape and Threshold festivals and support Happyness, with Y NOT and ArcTanGent slots scheduled for the summer.

Gorilla Riot have been playing raucous blues based rock since 2014, combining elements of grunge, stoner and country to create a full on, high energy rock show that leaves people panting for more. They have toured up and down the UK at venues such as Hootannany’s Brixton, The Washington (Sheffield), Ramsbottom Festival, Another Fine Fest (Cumbria), as well as Leeds and as far as Sagres Skate Festival in Portugal. They have climbed their way up the club scene in Manchester, playing bigger and bigger shows until most recently selling out the famous Night & Day Cafe. They have 1 full length LP and a 4 track EP out now, with an acoustic based LP on the way. They have garnered support from STS Touring and are currently on XS Manchester’s regular playlist with the likes of Blossoms, Blink 182 and Bon Jovi, gaining airplay on a daily basis. This is a rock band that has big things written in it’s future, and with their blend of powerful vocals and head stomping riffs, they are essential for any rock festival.

Hailing from the outskirts of Manchester, Ambiere brings something different to the table with their blend of electronic rhythms, grooving guitar and huge vocals.Fronted by the song writing partnership of Amber Lane-McIvor and Jake Blythe, the two could be classed as Manchester’s answer to the XX – creating what they call “fairytale grunge’’. Multi-instrumentalist Oliver Lamb provides electronic drums and a wealth rolling synth lines – the foundation of their live performances.

ARGH KiD is Manchester-based poet, waxing lyrical on an intoxicating mix of street smart rhyme, delivered with sharp wit and a colloquial twang. He is a regular across National TV and Radio, he has worked with everyone from Christopher Eccleston, to supporting the Happy Mondays and The Charlatans. As Poet Laureate at this year’s Kendal Calling, named UEFA’s Official Poet, Argh KID and has written, performed and also stars in a new film for Manchester United/New Era due to air this summer.
His poetry combines monkey business, melancholy, grit and wisdom, in a genre he calls “Pub-Toilet Sink Realism”. His captivating delivery, humorous anecdotes and show-stealing flow make for a live performance unrivalled on the Spoken Word circuit.
THE CHIEF OF SEATTLE
The Chief of Seattle are a 5 piece band from Manchester, tell stories about distant lands, forgotten ventures and fallen heroes, balanced with an optimistic and buoyant tone that provokes reflection. There is an emphasis on dynamics and melody that permeates their live sound, allowing audiences to enjoy the distinction between the softest of fingerpicking to the most powerful instrumentals.
THE COTTON FAMINE ROAD
In the depths of the Pennines lies The Cotton Famine Road, walked by two men, guitars slung across backs. Their journey, while seeped with an intrinsic nu-folk infusion, clearly touches the roots of Americana. Their songs, lyrically intense; juxtapose relationships, nature and observations about human frailties. Lyrically poised between melancholic and celebratory; their melodies offer an alternate vision of hope and ultimately faith. Twin guitar or banjo acoustic sound and soaring vocals expect to be doing lots of foot stomping.
Formed in early 2017, Broomhead brought together four well established and extremely talented musicians from an eclectic musical background. Fusing a mixture of funk, jazz, soul, blues and folk with the inspired and highly personal songs of songwriter Dave Broomhead, has allowed them to quickly carve a place in the Manchester music Scene. Their songs swing from full blown riff laden rock to soaring heart breaking ballads and their sets have resonated with audiences around this great city. With studio recordings in the pipeline and a variety of appearances coming up, Broomhead show no sign of slowing up anytime soon!

Ashley Sherlock is a singer and songwriter siting his inspirations as Jeff Buckley, Allen stone, Radiohead, hozier and JP Cooper. His ineffable vocal range and original material has been recognised by one of his musical hero’s and was invited to record and signed a deal with to produce his upcoming material. The 20 Year old musician has performed live alongside artists such as Barry Sutton, Guitarist of The La’s & Cast, Ex Inspiral Carpets front man Tom Hingley, JP Cooper, Wild Cub, Skinny Living, Lewis Bootle and guitarist for The Stone Roses, Ian Brown & Simply Red Aziz Ibrahim in numerous support slots.
Since their 2013 inception, Jekyll, a thrilling and hard-hitting four-piece from the North West of England, have been unrelenting in their dedication to creating and performing music. Taking inspiration from a wide and eclectic pool of influences, Jekyll’s music is known for its expansive, melancholic soundscapes, dynamic mood shifts and visceral intensity.
Hello I’m Holly and I am an acoustic singer/songwriter based around Manchester. I play with an acoustic indie/folk style (Apparently haha) and take inspiration from artists such as Pete Doherty, Gabrielle Aplin and Alex Turner. I have been playing around Bolton and Manchester for around four years now and have had the great opportunity of supporting some great bands and artists such as Blossoms, Ryan Jarvis and Jordan Allan, I also won 2016’s Unsigned award for ‘Best female solo artist’ as part of the Bolton FM Unsigned awards.”

James Holt is a singer/songwriter from Manchester, UK and has been supported/recommended by the likes of Brian Eno, KCRW, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 2 (Dermot O’Leary), BBC 6music, XS Manchester, This Feeling, Manchester Evening News and others. His new EP ‘Sanguine On the Rocks’ was released on the 29th April 2016. Brian Eno chose James’ song ‘Whatever Happened to John?’ for an arts festival last year and invited him to his John Peel Lecture where he had the opportunity to meet Eno himself. Eno said of the track: “Brisk, funny, exciting… this track feels fresh and exciting to listen to”. James also recently performed at the Royal Albert hall.

One thing that Paul has always had is a love for 60s and 70s soul, funk and jazz. He plays his personal collection to make you ‘Feel Good’.
